Supporting Every Unique Journey: Why We’re Investing in Specialist SENCo Training at Maxxi Childcare

At Maxxi Childcare, every child’s early years should be filled with discovery, confidence, and joy. We know that children develop at their own pace, but we also recognize that across the UK early years sector, nurseries are seeing a noticeable increase in speech, language, and communication delays in younger age groups.

At the same time, navigating support for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) can often feel complex for families, with local authority processes and funding taking time to materialize.

Rather than waiting for external support to arrive, we believe in taking proactive action right here under our own roof.

We are thrilled to share that two of our dedicated team members have officially enrolled in the Level 3 Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) Qualification provided through our Local Authority!

What This Means for Your Child and Our Community

By upskilling our own team with specialist qualifications, we are taking a significant step forward in ensuring expert, on-site guidance is integrated into daily life at Maxxi Childcare.

1. Early Language Interventions That Work

Speech and communication are the bedrock of social development and emotional wellbeing. By training our team in advanced SENCo leadership, we are expanding our toolkits for early communication strategies—including approaches like Makaton, visual timetables, and structured communication frameworks like WellComm. These techniques give every child—whether verbal, non-verbal, or still developing their words—the tools they need to express themselves freely.

2. Immediate, In-House Support (No Waiting Lists)

We know how stressful it can be for parents when they have questions about their child’s development. By having fully qualified SENCos on-site, we can implement tailored support plans immediately. We don’t have to wait for outside assessments to begin making positive adaptations to your child’s daily routine.

3. Creating Sensory-Friendly, Low-Arousal Learning Spaces

Neurodiversity is something we celebrate at Maxxi Childcare. As part of our SENCo training and environment reviews, we are continually enhancing our learning spaces to ensure they are inclusive. This includes developing low-arousal, sensory-friendly areas where children can self-regulate, unwind, and process their day safely whenever they feel overwhelmed.

Partnering with Families Every Step of the Way

Investing in our team’s professional development is ultimately an investment in your family. Having specialist SENCo support on-site means:

  • Stronger Parent Collaboration: Regular, meaningful check-ins with staff who truly understand developmental pathways.
  • Seamless Transitions: Ensuring your child’s unique needs are understood and advocated for when they prepare to transition to primary school.
  • An Inclusive Culture: A setting where every child feels seen, valued, and empowered to shine in their own unique way.

We couldn’t be prouder of our two team members taking on this Level 3 qualification. Their dedication reflects our overall commitment at Maxxi Childcare: providing highest-quality, nurture-first early education where no child is left behind.
