Job Summary
To work cooperatively with the nursery management team to ensure that the environment is clean and well maintained at all times.
To ensure that all company policies are adhered to and ensure health and safety is managed at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily Cleaning Tasks:
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors.
- Clean and disinfect sinks, basins, countertops, toilets, mirrors, windows, doors, and floors.
- Empty waste bins and dispose of rubbish and recyclables appropriately.
- Ensure hand wash basins are stocked with soap and paper towels.
- Weekly/Monthly Cleaning Tasks:
- Clean chairs and other furniture.
- Deep clean play areas, including toys and equipment.
- Clean windows and other glass surfaces.
- Health & Safety:
- Follow health and safety guidelines, including Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments as needed.
- Ensure all cleaning products are stored safely.
- Report any maintenance issues to the nursery manager or deputy manager.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work as part of a team with other staff members.
- Communicate effectively with nursery staff and parents.
- Provide handovers to cover staff when necessary.
- Administration:
- Complete all required paperwork accurately.
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and other nursery events as required.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Essential Skills:
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and follow cleaning schedules.
- Strong communication skills.
- Physical stamina for repetitive tasks and lifting/moving equipment.
- Time management skills.
- Desirable Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of child development and age-appropriate cleaning practices.
- Experience in a similar role.
- CRB clearance.

- Stay updated with the latest cleaning techniques and health and safety regulations.
- Participate in training and development opportunities provided by the nursery.
Additional Duties:
- Be willing to undertake additional roles to meet the needs of the nursery, children, and colleagues.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of children and families.
